Launceston Leisure and Aquatic Centre

After submitting a viable proposal, Decrolux progressed to defining the specifications for the fittings. Being such a corrosive environment, with high humidity, and chlorine, care was taken to provide a suitable fitting.

Officially opened in May 2009, at a cost of $26 Million, Launceston Aquatic boasts eight water spaces and a gym. With fitness, aquatic and relaxation facilities under one roof, Launceston Aquatic is the place for the entire community. This is the centre where Ariarne Titmus trained early in her career. The City of Launceston Leisure and Aquatic Centre offers a range of facilities including:

- State of the art gymnasium, built in 2014
- 50m Competition Launceston Swimming Pool
- Cafe with indoor and outdoor seating
- 25m Outdoor Lap Swimming Pool

In 2016, Decrolux was initially contracted by the Launceston City Council to conduct a lighting review, to determine existing lux levels, and provide a lighting plan, upgrading to LED technology. This involved a full scale lighting design. With the majority of lights facing upwards to eliminate glare for backstroke swimmers, the accuracy of the roof line, and surface textures was very important. Decrolux worked to the state swimming standards for lighting, with a minimum 400 lux over pool surface increasing to 600 lux at start and turn points.

After submitting a viable proposal, Decrolux progressed to defining the specifications for the fittings. Being such a corrosive environment, with high humidity, and chlorine, care was taken to provide a suitable fitting. Decrolux used IP68 Drivers in the fittings, silicone encapsulation of the PCBs, and silicone coating around all the wire joints. We used a double thickness anti-corrosive powdercoat, and 316 Stainless Steel Screws. We applied an Anti-Condensation coating on the frosted glass lens.

"After 2 years, the lights are still working as good as ever. Haven't had any failures, and has saved a heap in maintenance costs. Decrolux has worked with us to upgrade almost the entire facility now."
