The King David School Magid Institute

Decrolux worked with Middys Melbourne, and Positivenergy to provide a lighting solution that was aesthetically pleasing, yet functional. It also needed to meet Australian Standards (AS1680) in relation to lighting for education facilities. Importantly, lead times were of a critical nature for the project. Decrolux could deliver on all requirements.

ClarkeHopkinsClarke was the lead architect who worked with King David School on the development of the Magid Institute, a new senior secondary campus. The Magid Institute project saw the refurbishment and redevelopment of heritage listed buildings and the development of new facilities to create an integrated and contemporary educational campus.

A strong emphasis was placed on providing intimate learning spaces for each year level, with classrooms clustered together in the main building for each of years 10, 11 and 12, as well as a dedicated year nine centre developed in the converted two-storey house. Specialist facilities are provided within the main building, including a resource centre with computer studio, science laboratories, careers centre and other support / administration areas, as well as a multi-purpose hall for performing arts, media and arts studios. The brightly coloured courtyard located between the mansion and the new wing provides students with a place to relax and socialise during breaks, creating a sense of community on campus.
