LED Lighting Upgrade
The Canberra BMX Club in Melba is a volunteer run sporting group with a growing member base for an increasingly popular sport in Australia. It is one of the few sports that accommodates total family participation. The club places a strong emphasis on providing a fun, friendly and safe experience for their riders. The original lighting on the track was poor and had become unsafe for night competitions.
Collaborating directly with members of the club, a uniform light layout and design was created from a 3D model of the track. To minimise cost and labour, the club reused the existing poles. Using a combination of 450W and 650W from the premium LED Vertex Floodlight range, an average of 100 lux is achieved across the track, in accordance with AS4282. The members are reaping the benefits of upgraded lighting with an improved riding experience.
